Today, I'm going to review shark 2 in 1 steam mop.
Cleaning a kitchen floor can be hard work.
To get the best clean, you need a pair of mop buckets, some cleaning chemicals, and a lot of energy.
Or if that’s not available, you need a bucket, some knee pads, and a floor scrubber you can use with your hands.
Neither are very much fun.
There are alternative; some better than others.
“Wet jet” items have a great sales team, but in real-world applications, they seem to just make the floor wet and not much else.
To get the best clean you could possibly get on your floor, you need a steam mop.
Steam mops clean by heating water into vapor, and using that steam to eat away at stains on your hard floor.
They require less effort than the traditional mop and bucket method, and don’t require you to crawl around on your hands and knees.
To get you started on your steam mop adventure, we’ve written a specs review of one of our favorite steam mops, the Shark 2 in 1 Steam Pocket Mop.
Similar to the base model, the Steam Pocket Mop, the 2 in 1 features a detachable steam cleaner to use on above-floor surfaces.
It brings the power of a steam mop to any hard surface in your home.
The Shark 2 in 1 Steam Pocket Mop takes a little longer than we would like to set up.
It’s not the actual assembly that takes time, it’s sorting through all the parts.
There are many different parts included in the box and it takes about 10 minutes to open everything and sort them all.
After you get through that, it only takes about 3 minutes to put together.
Thankfully, the 2 in 1 takes about 30 seconds to heat up to cleaning temperature.
It’s terrible to sit around waiting for your steam mop to heat up, so Shark addressed this wonderfully with a short heating time.
Out of the box, this Shark 2 in 1 only comes with one rectangular cleaning pad for the mop head. Read: Shark Blast & Scrub Steam Pocket Mop S4601WM Review [Guide]
Fortunately, this cleaning pad is machine washable, but could still create the problem of “being in the wash” when you need to clean.
Shark steam mops have a great feature where their cleaning pads are double sided, allowing you to flip the mop over and continue cleaning without changing the pad.
The mop head itself is rectangular and swivels on a ball joint.
This is great for cleaning around the house and getting underneath everything.
It navigates under chairs, tables, and kitchen cabinets, allowing you to clean every speck of your floor.
The Shark 2 in 1 comes with a detachable, handheld steamer for cleaning around the house.
Simply take the mop hand off, attach a hose, and you have a little cleaner that goes wherever you do.
The handheld steamer is actually just the water tank itself with a hose attached to it, which is great, because the water tank is huge.
It holds more water than you could (hopefully) ever need to use to clean every room in your house.
The water tank only takes distilled water, as most steam mops do.
Regular tap water can bog down the works of even the best steam mops and over time reduce their cleaning power.
Shark included a wonderful little filling funnel so you can easily fill up your tank at the sink.
You don’t need to use chemicals to get your floors clean and sanitized, just distilled water.
As a steam mop, the Shark 2 in 1 glides gracefully around the floor getting deep into caked on dirt and stains.
Instead of stickiness and residue that you might get with Wet Jets and mop and bucket chemicals, the Shark steam mop leaves a floor clean, and barefoot walkable.
In fact, the floors dry in just a few seconds, allowing them to be walked on immediately.
It might be a good idea to give your floor a good sweeping before using the steam mop on it however.
While the 2 in 1 is great at picking up small dirt particles, it doesn’t do too well with larger ones.
It just seems to push the large dirt particles around instead of picking them up.
The cleaning power of the mop head also seems to be in the center.
When we lifted our steam mop to take a look, most of the dirt was picked up the by center of the back of the cleaning pad.
We easily washed this in the washing machine, but it would be optimal to have the pressure consistent throughout the head.
When you switch to handheld, the 2 in 1 opens up an entirely new realm of cleaning possibilities.
Attaching a hose to the bottom of the water tank allows you to clean every hard surface in your home, including tables, shelves, and especially your bathroom.
Use the handheld cleaner to remove soap scum from your bathroom and give it a deep clean.
The Shark 2 in 1 Steam Pocket Mop is not only a great mop to clean your hard floors, it’s an amazing tool to clean almost everything in your house.
It heats up quickly, and as a steam mop, leaves no residue on your floors and dries quickly.
As a handheld mop, its portability is unmatched and allows you to clean any area of your home with the eco-friendly power of steam.
